The part a hotline can't do
Your child asks. Santa answers.
Child:Okay. Do the reindeer live in your house?
Santa:No, my dear, they sleep in a warm stable by the sleigh. Rudolph…
Child:How many reindeer are there?
Santa:Nine, Emily. Rudolph flies in front with his red nose.
What a live call sounds like, as opposed to a hotline recording. The demo child is a voiced character; Santa's replies are live.

What your child will hear
The Santa Hotline is a recording. Santa says hello, talks about the workshop, and asks your child to leave a message after the beep. It's charming for little ones and completely free apart from your normal call rate. What it can't do is answer: if your child asks "how is Rudolph?", the line just waits for the beep.
NORAD is the opposite: a real person answers, but it's a volunteer at a military base telling you where the sleigh is, not Santa himself. It's a lovely Christmas Eve tradition — about 380,000 calls came in on December 24, 2024 — and lines can be busy, so try early in the day.
Why so many "Santa numbers" online don't work
Search for Santa's number and you'll find dozens of lists. Most are copied from each other and many are years out of date: numbers from promotions that ended, lines that became ordinary business numbers, and a few that were jokes from the start. Some "Santa" numbers in viral posts connect to real offices and businesses — which is not a call you want your child to make.
The safe rule: only use numbers published by the company that runs them, and test them yourself first. We only list numbers we could trace to their operator.
When a recording isn't enough

Around age four, children start asking Santa questions and waiting for answers. That's when a hotline stops feeling magical and starts feeling like voicemail. A live call is different: Santa hears what your child says and answers it, and he can mention things you told him in advance — the new baby brother, the tooth that fell out, the dog who ate a sock.
That's the product we make at Santa AI. You fill in a short form, choose a 2-, 3- or 5-minute call, and Santa calls in the browser whenever you're ready. If you'd rather your child see Santa too, there is a video call version.

Questions parents ask
Is the Santa Hotline really free?
Yes. FreeConferenceCall.com doesn't charge for it; your phone plan's normal rate for a US number applies.
Can I text Santa's phone number?
The hotline is a voice line. For texting Santa there are separate services — see how to text Santa.
Does Santa call back after my child leaves a message?
Not on the free hotline. If you want Santa to call your child, you need a call-back service such as a live call from Santa AI.
What's the number to call Santa on Christmas Eve?
1-877-HI-NORAD (1-877-446-6723). It's staffed by volunteers from early morning until midnight Mountain Time on December 24 and tells callers where Santa is.
Is there a number for the naughty list?
There's no official one. If you want Santa to talk to your child about behavior, see the naughty list call.
